Guernica de la Ecologia

The work also aims to trigger and drive initiatives, stimulating biodiversity, social inclusion, and traditional craftsmanship together. The canvas is the same large size as Picasso’s work. The comparison is that Jongstra’s work also addresses the problems of the time.

Just like Picasso’s painting Guernica, the artwork Guernica de la Ecología by artist and activist Claudy Jongstra travels around the world. Its goal is to spark dialogue and raise awareness about the devastation of nature and a society where certain groups are left out.

Circle

The Iona Stichting forms a circle around the artwork to develop initiatives related to its themes. The circle will make it possible for the work to continue traveling in the coming years to places and initiatives that support dialogue and awareness, functioning as an artwork as it was intended. When the Guernica de la Ecología isn’t traveling, it hangs in the foundation’s office.
